"Think Before You Drink": The Problem of Tap Water
Since the industrial revolution and World War II, we have dumped thousands of synthetic chemicals into the environment. Our water supplies are becoming increasingly polluted from industrial sources and agricultural run-off, along with added chemicals. Following are some of the "unsafe" impurities found in our drinking water.
- Pollutants and inorganic compounds
- Chlorine
- Fluoride
- Parasites and Bacteria
- Acid rain
- Pesticides and Herbicides
- Metals, such as Lead, Radon, and Mercury
Many of them are toxic and we do not know the long range effects these will have on our bodies and our children's.
We do need minerals. But the source of minerals should be the food we eat--not the water we drink. Only plants have the capability of transforming inorganic minerals from the soil and water into organic minerals we can use for nourishment.
